Job Description
YTC America Inc. (YTCA), the North American corporate research and development center of Yazaki Corporation, Japan is seeking a talented and highly motivated individual to fill the position for a Research and Development (R&D) Technician within its Materials R&D group.
Responsibility
Reporting to the Project Manager, this individual will serve as a key member of the laboratory’s research staff, supporting the development of advanced bioleaching processing technologies. The role integrates chemistry, materials characterization, chemical processing, and process scale-up. The successful candidate will work in a collaborative R&D environment and contribute to innovative solutions for sustainable materials processing.
Requirements
Candidates should meet one of the following education and experience combinations:
- An associate’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or a related field, with five (5) or more years of laboratory or industrial experience;
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field, with at least two (2) years of relevant experience (preferred); or
- A master’s degree in a related field, with one (1) or more years of relevant experience (a plus).
Candidates should have experience working in R&D laboratory environments, preferably with sample preparation, solid materials processing, and characterization. Familiarity with analytical techniques such as XRF, XRD, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and thermal analysis (TGA/DSC), along with the ability to produce accurate and reliable analytical data, is preferred. Knowledge of chemical processes or PCR techniques is a plus, and candidates with a minor in biology are encouraged to apply.
The ideal candidate will be capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research team, including close interaction with technical staff across research and product development, while performing hands-on laboratory work. They should demonstrate a strong commitment to maintaining a safe laboratory environment, along with a high level of professionalism, work ethic, and a can-do attitude. Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively are essential. Additionally, the position requires the ability to occasionally lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

Hourly Pay: $28.85 – $38.47 – YTCA considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, total compensation and a candidate’s qualifications, key skills, work experience, education, and training.
