Dr. Stefan Maat
President and CEO
Dr. Stefan Maat joined YTC America in 2015 and brings more than two decades of industrial experience in materials research and technology development. In October 2025, he was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of YTC America Inc., succeeding Mr. Shinya Oda. As President and CEO, Dr. Maat is responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of the company, including the development and deployment of new technologies. Under his leadership, YTC America continues to advance its mission to pioneer innovations in metals, polymers, and energy materials, contributing to Yazaki’s global goal of achieving carbon neutrality and circularity by 2050.
Prior to joining YTC America, Dr. Maat spent over 15 years in the magnetic recording industry at IBM, Hitachi Global Storage Technologies, and Western Digital, where he held a series of research and development positions of increasing responsibility. Dr. Maat holds a Diplom in Physics from the University of Dortmund in Germany, an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Alabama, and an MBA from Washington State University. He has authored or co-authored over 40 peer-reviewed publications and holds more than 100 patents.
