Dr. Stefan Maat

VP of Research & Development


Stefan joined YTC America in 2015 and has more than 20 years of industrial experience related to materials research and technology development. In his current role he is responsible for a wide range of projects in the areas of metal alloys, polymers, composites, environmental sensors, and energy storage materials.

Prior to joining YTC America, Stefan worked for more than 15 years in the Magnetic Recording Industry at IBM, Hitachi Global Storage Technologies, and Western Digital, where he initially worked as a Research Staff Member and finally as Director of Thin Film Development.

Stefan received his Diplom in Physics from the University of Dortmund, his M.Sc. and PhD in Physics from the University of Alabama, and his MBA from Washington State University. Stefan has authored or co-authored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications and is an inventor or co-inventor to more than 80 patents.
